Matthew Walker - best friends with Christmas since 1899

The Matthew Walker name has been trading in the marketplace for 110 years. They are officially, and indeed have trade-marked 'THE WORLD'S OLDEST CHRISTMAS PUDDING MAKER'.

The business was established in the early 1880’s, by Matthew Walker himself, a local farmer’s son who started to make and sell his mother’s recipes of pudding and jams.

In 1899, the company was registered as a limited company, and whilst ownership has changed over the years, the Matthew Walker name has been around since the beginnings of Christmas, as we know it today.

Matthew Walker prides itself on sourcing the very best ingredients from around the world, from succulent French cherries to juicy sultanas and raisins from Izmir in Turkey, and aromatic Christmas spices from Indonesia and Sri Lanka.

Gently steamed using Matthew Walker's unique process, their puddings maintain a traditional dark appearance and moist texture - signature attributes for a perfect Christmas pudding.

The Pudding
This year, no Christmas table will be complete without Matthew Walker’s signature pudding – ‘The Pudding’ - to round off the most important meal of the year. ‘The Pudding’ uses a traditional blend of 13-core ingredients, providing the ‘perfect’ balance of nuts, vine fruits and alcohol.

The 13-core ingredients that go into every pudding historically represent Jesus and his twelve apostles; a tradition that dates back the Victorian era.

The subtle spices, hearty vine fruits, citrus zest, plump cherries, dark malty stout, fine spirits, almonds and cream combine with our unique steaming process to ensure ‘The Pudding’ has a full flavour and texture that emanates the true essence of Christmas. In fact, we believe it is The Perfect Christmas Pudding Recipe.

Matthew Walker’s ‘The Pudding’ is available in 3 sizes - 100g (individual ) & 454g (serves 3-4) , and 907g (Serves 8-9).
